SUMMER IN SICILY: THREE EVENTS TO DISCOVER DOC WINES.

The Consorzio di Tutela Vini DOC Sicilia inaugurates the summer of 2025 with a series of events dedicated to consumers in the suggestive locations of Noto, Taormina and Cefalù . Noto, capital of the Baroque and a favorite destination of international tourism, hosts the first event today in a context of great architectural charm and cultural vivacity. Taormina, overlooking the sea, continues to establish itself as an elite destination, where DOC Sicilia wines will meet a cosmopolitan and refined public. Cefalù, nestled between the rock and the blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea, will offer a breathtaking setting for a tasting experience that combines emotion and territory. Three jewels of Sicily, authentic symbols of beauty, culture and hospitality, become the natural stage to tell and experience Sicily through its DOC wines, directly in the heart of the island, where the sun, the sea, the culture and the art have always told a story of excellence.

DOC Sicilia wines thus become ambassadors of a profound identity, which guests can taste and take with them when they return home, transforming a sip into a memory destined to last” declares Camillo Pugliesi, director of the DOC Sicilia Consortium “ The aim of these events is to create a sensory experience, offering an opportunity to learn and explore our wines and our territory in a context of emotional involvement. The moment of the holiday, experienced in a dimension of openness and discovery, lends itself to more deeply understanding the values linked to the territory, quality, culture and sustainability of DOC Sicilia wine. These events are part of a broader and more structured project to enhance the DOC Sicilia brand, which includes an integrated communication campaign, aimed at the general public and with a final focus in the international press, with the incoming scheduled for October”.

The events, in addition to the Noto stop scheduled for today at Osteria Giovanni Trombatore (Corso Vittorio Emanuele, 157), from 11:00 to 15:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00, will take place at:

Taormina (ME), June 25, 2025, at San Michele Ristorante Taormina (Piazza S. Domenico de Guzman, 2B), continuous hours

Cefalù (PA), June 27, 2025, at Duomo Delizie di Sicilia (Piazza del Duomo, 19), from 11:00 to 21:00

Each event includes tasting sessions, during which guests can savor a selection of DOC Sicilia labels accompanied by the stories of qualified staff, capable of illustrating the characteristics of the wines, the peculiarities of the native vines and the deep bond between each glass and the territory from which it comes.

With this campaign, co-financed by the European Union under Measure 3.2 of the PSR Sicilia, the use of the new visual identity of the DOC Sicilia also begins, applied to all the Consortium’s media and communication channels, in Italy and around the world: from the audio spot on Spotify, to the banners and posts published during Vinitaly, up to the graphic applications on the Consortium’s stand.

This initiative is an invitation to discover Sicily through the glass, to let yourself be enveloped by its scents, its landscapes and its innate art of hospitality.

VENICE: BEZOS, BOTTEGA ‘FOOLISH TO ROW AGAINST MARRIAGE, IT ATTRACTS ELITE TOURISM’

This is the comment of the prosecco entrepreneur Sandro Bottega, on the eve of the wedding that will take place in Venice between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez between today and Sunday. “And it is even more curious to try to understand the reasons that lead to this opposition – continues Bottega – not easy to find: an event like this will bring work to hotels, waiters, dishwashers, transporters, taxi drivers, cooks, beverage and food distributors. And there are those who dispute the fact that some of them will be underpaid: it certainly would not be Bezos’ fault and in any case, if there is greater wealth, they will probably be able to get tips and prizes. Venice seen as an amusement park? No, it is an extraordinary place, a UNESCO heritage site that obviously, like any other site with this recognition, wants to be visited by millions of people and whose flows must be regulated. A limited number of accesses is welcome, but if I were the mayor I would also establish a policy of distribution of these flows, not only towards the ‘key sites’ – Piazza San Marco and Ponte di Rialto – but also towards different areas of the city, which are ignored and are also incredibly beautiful”. To ensure the safety of the 200 guests, teams of ex-marines are expected to have jet skis at their disposal to reach the ‘red zones’ of the wedding. Catering will be 1000 euros per person and the presence of starred chefs is expected, as well as big pop stars and politicians. “Bezos is a brilliant entrepreneur who has built an extraordinary company that employs 1.5 million people around the world; people who have freely chosen to work for Amazon and not for another reality. This man comes to Venice for one of the most important moments of his life, bringing wealth, work, fame and prestige to the city: not that Venice needs it, but it certainly does not harm it and an event like this will be an example that many other couples in the world will want to imitate, rich and less rich. Individuals who will want to admire this beautiful city even more, which will thus be able to deseasonalise its tourism and bring wealth at all levels. Above all, that elite tourism that we need in our territories”, concludes the prosecco entrepreneur Sandro Bottega.

SERPRINO FESTIVAL IS ON!

From June 21st to July 7th, Serprino Festival returns, the great summer event dedicated to the native, lively and volcanic sparkling wine of the Euganean Hills.

Serprino Festival is back, the summer event dedicated to Serprino, the volcanic native sparkling wine of the Euganean Hills. Until July 7, there will be numerous events that will offer various opportunities for leisure and conviviality. The festival will liven up the places of the territory, also including some exceptional sites, such as Villa dei Vescovi in Torreglia, the Catajo Castle in Due Carrare and Villa Molin in Padua. There will also be meetings in the historic center of Padua , in the village of Montagnana and in various cellars of the Euganean Hills, to offer a complete experience of wine, art and landscape. The initiative is organized by the Consortium for the Protection of Colli Euganei Wines in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Padua and Venicepromex.

Inaugurated on Saturday 21 June at the Praglia Abbey with Vulcanico Serprino, the Festival will continue on Friday 27 June (from 7pm to 11pm), when the splendid panoramic terraces of Villa dei Vescovi will host an evening event open to the public, born from the collaboration between the FAI – Villa dei Vescovi and the Consorzio Vini Colli Euganei. A refined and convivial occasion to bring together local wines with music and culture: between a welcome glass and jazz atmospheres, the public will be able to relax, dine and participate in the presentation of the book “Tiziano Rosso Sangue” by Fabio Lonardi. The musical entertainment will be provided by Giuseppe Dato (electric piano) and Alberto Paggini (double bass). Guided tours at fixed times will also be possible, with access to the main floor of the Villa.

On Tuesday 1st July , in Montagnana, the appointment is with Brividi e Serprino , the literary event in which wine dialogues with culture.

Wednesday 2nd July will be the Serprino Night , one of the most anticipated events, organized in the historic center of Padua . During the evening, the ancient shops of the Market under the Palazzo della Ragione , popularly called “Il Salone”, one of the largest and oldest in Europe will join the member cellars of the Consorzio di Tutela Vini Colli Euganei for a tasting based on local flavors paired with local wines.
