CHRISTMAS 2024: CELEBRATE THE MAGIC OF THE HOLIDAYS WITH VALPOLICELLA WINES

The soft lights of the houses, the enveloping atmosphere of Christmas and the warmth of the laid tables intertwine in a moment of joy and sharing.

It is precisely in this context that the wines of Valpolicella, with their elegant and complex notes, reveal themselves to be the undisputed protagonists, capable of enhancing the dishes of the holidays and making every toast an unforgettable moment. The magic of Christmas is reflected in the glasses of Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG and Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG, two wine treasures that can express the extraordinary quality of a territory nestled among the hills of Verona. It is here, in the heart of Valpolicella, that the thousand-year-old passion for viticulture is transformed into wines that preserve the scents and flavors of a generous land, perfect for accompanying the holidays with refinement and warmth.

Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is a wine of great prestige and complexity, born from the traditional technique of drying grapes. Amarone encloses a range of penetrating aromas on the nose, ranging from ripe red fruit to sweet spices, to nuances of cocoa and tobacco. Its full-bodied and harmonious structure makes it the ideal pairing for sumptuous holiday second courses, such as braised beef in red wine or classic roast beef, but Amarone is also perfect for accompanying mature cheeses, such as Asiago DOP Stravecchio, enhancing the depth of flavors with its intensity.

Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG, on the other hand, is the sweet spirit of this territory. A forerunner of Amarone, it is also obtained by drying the grapes, but requires a stop in the fermentation to preserve the percentage of sugar necessary to guarantee its typical structure. The result is a soft wine with a strong aroma of dried fruit and cherries in alcohol that blend in a perfect balance between sweetness and freshness. Recioto is the ideal accompaniment for holiday desserts, from the traditional Torta Sbrisolona to the more classic Pandoro; also perfect with blue cheeses, it creates a sublime contrast that enhances the richness of the Christmas holidays.

The Consortium for the Protection of Valpolicella Wines, guardian of this thousand-year-old tradition, is one of the partners of the European campaign “That’s Amore – European lifestyle: taste wonderfood”, which aims to promote and encourage the spread and knowledge on the Italian, German and Czech markets of certified products with high quality and food safety standards as well as strongly representative of the territory of origin and production. In addition to the wines protected by the Valpolicella Consortium such as Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Valpolicella DOC, Valpolicella Ripasso DOC and Recioto della Valpolicella DOCG, the other protagonists of the campaign are some of the flagships of Made in Italy such as Asiago DOP cheese, Nano Vialone Veronese IGP rice, Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil, Tergeste DOP extra virgin olive oil and Veneto DOP extra virgin olive oil, all varieties protected by the Verona Oil Producers Association. A symphony of flavours and traditions, making Christmas a perfect occasion to celebrate the best of Europe’s gastronomic heritage.

The German Oscar for Entertainment and Culture goes to Kevin Costner, Robbie Williams, Bryan Adams and Reinhold Messner.

In Munich, Masi was the protagonist of the exclusive event, a symbol of glamour and solidarity; with its Wine Bar it is already a stable point of reference for Italianness in Maximilianstrasse.

Gargagnago di Valpolicella, 12 November 2024Masi, a historic winery producing Amarone and premium wines from the Veneto region , was a protagonist at the BAMBI Awards 2024 , a prestigious award in Germany that celebrates leading figures in German and international culture and society who have left an indelible mark with their work. The wines of the Venetian winery accompanied the dinner and after-party of the exclusive event held in the evocative setting of the Bavaria Film Studios in Munich.

At the BAMBI ceremony, representing Masi were Alessandra Boscaini , seventh generation of the family owner, and Federico Girotto , CEO of the Group, who commented: “ It was a real pleasure to share our wines with an audience of the highest caliber. For a glamorous event of this caliber, two labels of equal prestige: Rosa dei Masi , an elegant rosé new this year, and Brolo Campofiorin , one of the most contemporary interpretations of Valpolicella; both expressions of the identity and modernity of the Masi brand and its territory.”

This year, among the international winners, in addition to Kevin Costner , Robbie Williams and Bryan Adams, is the well-known mountaineer and explorer Reinhold Messner, who already received the Masi Prize in 2020.

Masi has a consolidated presence in Munich with the Masi Wine Bar on Maximilianstrasse , a renowned luxury street where the wines of the Venetian regions bring the style and authenticity of the house and its territory.

FederBio’s amendment proposals to the State Budget

Promoting the environmental, social and economic centrality of organic: FederBio’s amendment proposals to the State Budget

FederBio, after an analysis of the contents of the 2025 Budget Law, has sent a series of amendment proposals to Parliamentarians with the hope that they will be accepted and filed in due time to allow for discussion during the approval process of the 2025 budget.

The goal is to aim for a greater commitment in the State budget to support organic farming, a sector in which Italy is a leader at European level and which represents the main instrument for the ecological transition of agriculture.

As a first point, FederBio proposes to remodulate the VAT rates by eliminating the concessions for chemically synthesised pesticides and fertilizers and lowering the VAT to 4% for all organic consumer products and technical means permitted in organic farming which are becoming increasingly widespread in the rest of agriculture.

We believe it is necessary to use the fiscal lever of the VAT rate to facilitate the use of technical means permitted in organic farming, which are essential for promoting the sustainability of all agriculture – explains Maria Grazia Mammuccini , President of FederBioIn this way it is possible to effectively stimulate internal demand and promote the achievement of the objective of 25% of organically cultivated surface area by 2027, as envisaged by the National Strategic Plan of the CAP”.

Still in the fiscal field, the Federation proposes the introduction of a tax credit for the costs of certification, which today are entirely borne by agricultural companies and all operators in the supply chain who certify products according to European and national organic farming standards.

Currently – notes Mammuccini – the costs of certification represent a significant economic burden, particularly for small agricultural companies, which generates a downstream impact on the price of consumer products . On the other hand, the use of national taxation represents one of the strategic tools on which the European Union relies to promote the increase in organic agricultural land, which is also recommended by the EU Strategies “Farm to Fork” and “Biodiversity 2030”

Finally, for the ” Fund for organic school canteens” FederBio proposes to increase resources, for the year 2025 and beyond, to at least 10 million euros. This request is dictated by the consideration that children and young people are more subject to exposure to residues of synthetic chemicals in food.

With this request we also intend to underline the educational role of organic school canteens which can represent a decisive lever for promoting healthy and balanced eating styles in the new generations ”, concludes President Mammuccini.
