Everything is ready for Bagna Cauda Day 2024

From Piedmont to China, from New York to Japan, everything is ready for Bagna Cauda Day 2024.

The world’s largest collective bagna cauda is scheduled for the last two weekends of November and from January 29 to February 2, 2025 with the Bagna della Merla. A Bagna Cauda Caravan will depart from Liguria for Asti where the Olympic “fujot” will be lit on November 23.

We’re almost there: it’s time for Bagna Cauda Day! It’s the largest collective and contemporary bagna cauda in the world. It will be celebrated in more than 170 venues including restaurants, historic cellars, and agritourism, with over 48,000 seats available at the table. The initiative is promoted for the twelfth year by the Astigiani Cultural Association, which allocates its profits to concrete solidarity actions. This year with a new feature: no longer two, but three weekends: November 22, 23, 24 and November 29-30 and December 1, to which the Bagna della Merla is added January 29-30-31 and February 1-2, 2025.

Many adhesions all over the world: from China to New York

The event, spread throughout Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta and Liguria, also has significant presences abroad. It will be the Pezzana family to perfume London : Silvio Pezzana, originally from Conzano, will prepare with his brother Alessio and his wife Pippa a bagna cauda as God commands in his house in Hackney in London, open to friends on the weekend of November 30.

In China, the first Bagna Cauda Day at the Noi Mediterraneo Restaurant in Wuhan, owned by Roberta Menin from Asti. In Shanghai, the celebration is with the Shanghai Piedmont Association, led by the lawyer Adriano Zublena, with a traditional Bagna Cauda “Come Dio comanda” on November 30.

Bagna Cauda at the aperitif at Bar B – Basta Pasta’s in New York , while Japan doubles: chef Yuji Hayashi will offer it in his two restaurants The Momentum by Porsche and Tanta Roba in Tokyo. A new entry is the Osteria Pomo d’Oro in Budapest, which will celebrate the investiture of the new knights of the Order of the Knights of the Truffle and the wines of Alba with a sumptuous bagna cauda on Saturday 1 February. It’s also the first time in Slovakia, in Bratislava, at the Café Cortellazzi Food & Beverage Restaurant and at the I Tre Somari Restaurant, which will participate in the Bagna della Merla, from 29 January to 2 February. And this year, the ritual will also be renewed in Burundi : Elisabetta Pietrobon, Ambassador of the European Union, will bring bagna cauda to the African state.

The Bagna Cauda Caravan from Liguria to Piedmont

Bagna Cauda Day 2024 is enriched with a new event: a caravan of vintage cars that, starting from Liguria and going up the Col di Nava, will arrive in Piedmont to bring – like the three wise men – the “foreign” ingredients of bagna cauda: the new oil of freshly pressed Taggiasca olives and anchovies from the Ligurian Sea. There will also be garlic from Vessalico.

On Saturday 23 November, on the trail of one of the ancient salt routes, a group of vintage cars from the Camea club of Asti , with the support of Asti Energy , will set off from Badalucco, one of the towns in the Argentina Valley, one of the capitals of Ligurian oil, famous for its medieval bridges.

From Piazza Marconi in Badalucco, the town of the historic Roi oil mill , the caravan, greeted by the Ligurians after the symbolic delivery of oil, anchovies and garlic, will climb the hairpin bends of Col di Nava, then descend into Piedmont along the Tanaro Valley. Before arriving in Asti, it will pass through Nizza Monferrato to stock up on cardoons, the queen vegetables of every bagna cauda and barbera ( Cantina del Nizza ). The arrival in Piazza Libertà in Asti is scheduled for 5:30 pm, where a large fujot (the typical stove for bagna cauda) has been set up, which will be lit like a brazier by Olympic athlete Alice Sotero, the pentathlete who represented Italy twice at the Tokyo and Paris games.

The Cloth Bib

It is the BCD flag. All bagnacaudisti who will go to taste bagna cauda in the participating places will receive as a gift the Bavagliolone in fabric that this year is designed by the young artist Giorgia Sanlorenzo who interpreted the motto “Esageruma nen the world belongs to everyone”. A strong call to defend planet Earth, our common home so mistreated. Esageruma nen is a Piedmontese expression that means let’s not exaggerate.

Collavini continues its partnership with Moschino: Il Grigio Spumante in the best international boutiques

n December, many events open to the public in London, Rome, New York, Milan and Paris to present the new collection of the fashion house.

Collavini , a historic Friulian company, renews its collaboration with the Moschino brand and in the Christmas month toasts in the major fashion capitals with Il Grigio , the first Friulian sparkling wine made from Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay grapes, created more than 50 years ago. The company from Corno di Rosazzo (Udine) will participate in the presentation events of the new collection of the famous fashion house, which will begin on Thursday 5 December in Paris and London , then on Saturday 7 in Rome , on Friday 13 overseas in the New York boutique, and finally in Milan on Saturday 14.

“We are happy to have collaborated for years with an authoritative and iconic brand like Moschino – says Luigi Collavini , owner of the company together with his brother Giovanni and his father Manlio –. Grigio represents our history and passion, enclosing the essence of the territory in every glass. It is exciting to see how this sparkling wine, born more than fifty years ago, continues to be appreciated all over the world”.

The history of Il Grigio begins with its debut at Vinitaly in 1973, becoming a faithful companion for toasts at the most exclusive parties in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1985, in fact, it accompanied the trip to Italy of Prince Charles and Princess Diana , as evidenced by a letter of thanks sent by Buckingham Palace to Manlio Collavini for the gift to the Princes of Wales.

Loved by celebrities such as Renato Pozzetto, Cochi Ponzoni, Teo Teocoli, Enzo Jannacci, Steno and Guido Nicheli, Il Grigio immediately achieved success in the most exclusive clubs and bars in Milan. Collavini’s sparkling wine was also an ingredient for years in the famous Bellini at Harry’s Bar in Venice, an iconic location for the international jet set, and a toast of good luck for Alitalia and Air Canada passengers.

Even today it is confirmed as the ideal bubble to celebrate special moments: the label, redesigned in 2023 for fifty years of success, reflects Manlio Collavini’s passion for a style inspired by Liberty and Art Nouveau . The design, taken from an image discovered in an ancient book and inspired by the work of Aubrey Beardsley, an English illustrator contemporary of Oscar Wilde, was adapted for the Il Grigio label: the small silver spirals recall the harmony of the vine’s cirrus clouds.

Bright straw yellow in color with greenish veins, Il Grigio presents itself to the nose as fragrant and fresh, with notes of golden apple, pear and bread crust. The rounded flavor is harmonious and persistent. It lends itself to being served as an aperitif or to accompany vegetarian first courses and baked fish.

Enantio debuts at court: the ancient variety recovered by Roeno stars in Monte Carlo

The Enantio Riserva 1865 Prefillossera is a witness to the excellence of Italian winemaking for Francs de Pied. At the gala evening, the special guest was Prince Albert II of Monaco.

On Tuesday, November 12 in Monte Carlo, the French association Francs de Pied selected the Enantio Riserva 1865 Prefillossera di Roeno as the only Italian wine to represent the winemaking excellence of the Bel Paese. Among the special guests of the exclusive gala event was His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco , a long-time passionate supporter of rare wines and authentic territories.

Enantio Riserva 1865 Prefillossera , the flagship product of the company from Brentino Belluno (Verona), has its roots in the Terradeiforti , in a unique wine and cultural heritage. The historic ungrafted variety, rediscovered thanks to the research work of the Veronese winemaking reality, tells the story of the strength of the territory and its traditions, expressed with depth and character in every sip. “Being selected by Francs de Pied, an association that promotes wines produced with ungrafted vines, is a great honor for us,” says Cristina Fugatti , owner of Roeno . “It is a great recognition that highlights the importance of preserving native varieties and ancient winemaking techniques. A milestone that gives me double satisfaction on a research and rediscovery project undertaken firsthand at the university, in which I stubbornly believed and which has brought us this far today.”

The highlight of the evening was the charity auction in which all the ungrafted wines present at the event were auctioned: the proceeds will go to support initiatives to preserve and promote the wine heritage. The Enantio Riserva Prefillossera 1865 , thanks to its historical value and unique organoleptic profile, was among the labels most appreciated by the participants, seeing its prestige recognized at an international level. “The selection of our Enantio Riserva – declared Martina Centa , brand manager and representative of the third generation of Roeno – encourages us to continue the work of preserving our roots and our unique varieties. We are honored to have brought a piece of our history and our land to Monte Carlo, to share it with important personalities and with those who recognize the value of authenticity in every glass.”

The Francs de Pied evening in Monte Carlo was a unique moment for Roeno, which consolidates its commitment to promoting the territory and ancient Italian wine varieties.
