AUTUMNUS, SPOTLIGHT ON WINES AND FLAVORS OF TRENTINO

BETWEEN NARRATED APERITIFS AND THE GREAT “INCONTRI DIVINI” EVENT.

This year too, the Wine and Flavors Routes of Trentino are partners of the food and wine event that will liven up the city until October 20. In addition to the doubling of the Aperitivi Narrati events, the big new feature for 2024 is the traveling event that brings together the representative wines of the area thanks to the union of forces with the Consorzio Vini del Trentino – Consorzio di Tutela, in a journey in six stages, enriched by the performances of the theater company Koinè, between Palazzo Trauttmannsdorf and Castello del Buonconsiglio.

As part of “ Autumnus – The Fruits of the Earth City of Trento ”, the event organized by the ProLoco Centro Storico di Trento to celebrate the food and wine excellence of the area, the Wine and Flavors Roads of Trentino are offering a series of events in collaboration with the Consorzio del Vini del Trentino – Consorzio di Tutela and the Istituto Tutela Grappa del Trentino , in addition to the involvement of historic producers and new faces of the Trentino Winemakers.

After the success of the 2023 edition, which was always sold out, the Narrated Aperitifs are back: in-depth experiences on Trentino products, with tastings led by expert Sommeliers , accompanied by the direct stories of the producers . This year the format doubles, with six events in the splendid setting of Sala Marangonerie at Castello del Buonconsiglio . From Monday 14 to Saturday 19 October , every day the spotlight will be on one of the representative wines of Trentino paired with other local excellences, as well as on grappas thanks to the collaboration with the Istituto Tutela Grappa del Trentino.

It starts on Monday with Müller Thurgau from Val di Cembra paired with dairy products from Valsugana; on Tuesday, “Nobiltà di Sapori” is scheduled, with Teroldego Rotaliano paired with Puzzone di Moena. On Wednesday, there will be a meeting between Alpine char, Nosiola from Valle dei Laghi and Colline Avisiane, while on Thursday it will be dedicated to Marzemino and Trentino cured meats. All from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. On Friday, from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm, there will be “An unusual autumnal mélange” with a meeting between Trentino grappas and aged cheeses from the Dolomites. The Saturday event is instead from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm with a focus on Trento DOC and Trentino trout.

Saturday evening, from 5.00 pm to 10.30 pm , will be dedicated to “ Incontri Divini ”, an evocative event combining food and wine and theatre that brings together the testimonial wines and Trentino grappa in a journey through the halls of Palazzo Trauttmannsdorf and the spaces of Castello del Buonconsiglio , from the garden to the Sala delle Marangonerie, then moving on to the refectory and cellars, concluding in the exclusive apartment of Prince Bishop Giovanni Hinderbach.

The audience will be entertained by the actors of the Koinè theatre company who, through six interpreted scenes, also using multimedia content, will pay homage to the glasses to be tasted at each stage. After each performance, the audience, divided into small groups and with staggered departures, will move on to the tasting combined with a food proposal curated by students and teachers of the ENAIP of Primiero, for a journey through refined flavours. The Trentodoc will be proposed in combination with Trentingrana barley soup and Val di Non Golden apple caviar, the Nosiola will meet an elaboration of Trentino trout, the Müller Thurgau will be tasted with a sphere of potatoes, cabbage, caramelized onion and Val di Gresta cauliflower with its eggs. Moving on to red wines, the Tartare di Carne Salada will pair well with Marzemino, while the Teroldego Rotaliano will be proposed with a panna cota with Puzzone di Moena DOP and crispy leeks. Sweet finale with grappa and a revisited version of chocolate salami with candied fruit.

SANDRO BOTTEGA, PROSECCO, PRESENTS MILANO, PROSECCO PREMIUM VINTAGE COLLECTION

In the same context, a vertical tasting of Prosecco Bottega was held: 6 vintages from 2013 to 2023.

EXCLUSIVE QUALITY AND PRICES UP TO 250 EURO.

Sandro Bottega presented today in Milan the world preview of the new line of premium Prosecco called “Prosecco Premium Vintage Collection”. These bottles are characterized by unique features that elevate the quality of this sparkling wine to 360°: Selection of individual vineyards in the most suitable plots among the UNESCO World Heritage Hills; Glera grapes grown in the name of sustainability and harvested only by hand when they are perfectly ripe; Pre-fermentation cryomaceration, to fully safeguard the organoleptic charge of the grapes; Aging in new “horizontal” autoclaves, the result of the most advanced technological research applied to quality winemaking; Long fermentation times (up to 12 months, where Prosecco normally reaches about 1 month), to obtain wines with different organoleptic expressions depending on the individual vintages and the different crus. Finally, stoppers made of 100% Sardinian cork were chosen and previously subjected to a patented process by a specialized company capable of signaling the possible presence of off-flavors (i.e. TCA, responsible for the infamous cork taint), to preserve the wine over time. In short, a quality at the top of the wine world and prices up to 250 euros per bottle, for wines that have nothing to envy to the various Classic Methods and French Champagnes.

In this regard, Sandro Bottega has developed a careful comparative analysis, which has shown that the production costs of Prosecco, in highly suitable areas with extremely steep hills, are 3 times higher than those of Classic Method and Champagne, which are mostly characterised by undulating or flat orography.

The “Prosecco Premium Vintage Collection” line includes 5 different sparkling wines. The first three releases, already available, are: Gold Cru Vintage 2022 Extra Brut (€35 in the best wine shops), Gold Extra Brut Vintage 2022 (€42 in the best wine shops) and Gold Diamond Vintage 2022 Extra Brut (€54 in the best wine shops). The last two, Vintage 2021, are characterized by longer refinement (up to 12 months), so much so as to bring the price up to €250 per bottle. “Prosecco Premium Vintage Collection” will be distributed in a limited edition (no more than 50,000 bottles), only in the best wine shops and restaurants around the world.

This new line was introduced today by a Vertical guided by Sandro Bottega. For the occasion, 6 historic vintages of Prosecco Doc Bottega were tasted: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020, 2023, demonstrating that even quality Proseccos can withstand over 10 years of aging, indeed acquiring an evolution of aromas and taste.

After this unprecedented “Vertical Prosecco”, chefs Remo and Mario Capitaneo of the starred restaurant “Verso” in Milan have created a special and unrepeatable menu to accompany glasses of the new Prosecco Gold Extra Brut Vintage 2022.

Sandro Bottega commented: “With the Prosecco Vintage Premium Collection Project I set out to concretely demonstrate that Prosecco, if of quality, has nothing to envy of the best French Champagnes. I would add that today’s vertical of historic vintages offered a broad overview of the still unexpressed potential of Prosecco.”

With a 2023 turnover of over 91 million euros (6.5% on 2022) and exports exceeding 80% of production, the Bottega SpA winery confirms itself as one of the most dynamic in the sector, aiming for balanced and progressive development also thanks to a constant increase in the quality of Prosecco. The growth trend is also confirmed in the first 6 months of 2024 and allows for a turnover of close to 100 million euros at the end of the year. Bottega reaches the markets of 165 countries around the world and has a particularly strong presence in: Canada, USA, Germany, Switzerland, Benelux, Scandinavia. The 30 Bottega Prosecco Bars, located mainly in the main airports in Europe and the Middle East, represent the best expression of Made in Italy, where Bottega wines and spirits are paired with finger food and typical Italian dishes.

Heroic Winemakers Locanda San Martino 24 10 2024

An evening not to be missed “THE LARGE BOTTLES OF GASPARE BUSCEMI ACCOMPANIE THE DISHES OF CHEF PAOLO SPERANZON” Thursday 24 October, 8.00 pm.

An evening not to be missed for gourmets and lovers of good wine. Thursday 24 October at 8pm at Locanda San Martino, a historic venue in San Martino d’Alpago, a hamlet of Chies, a mountain village in the province of Belluno. The large bottles of Gaspare Buscemi accompany the dishes of chef Paolo Speranzon. In the 1950s, Pier Paolo Pasolini coined the definition “master in the shadows” for the Ligurian poet Camillo Sbarbaro; this fine attribution is well suited to Gaspare Buscemi, a singular figure of “artisan winemaker”, in his words! In the literary field he would be classified as a writer for writers or in the musical field a musician for musicians; ultimately considered, respected and esteemed in the restricted circle of insiders, but little known to most. Yet this gentleman boasts a cursus honorum of considerable specific weight. In the 60s he was one of those commendable trailblazers who literally refounded the world of wine in Friuli Venezia Giulia, later he revived important wineries in Piedmont and, among many others, we find him among the creators of the best Italian Brandy, the “Villa Zarri”. A man of undoubted intellectual honesty, lively intelligence, vast culture and absolute originality in the wine panorama of the Bel Paese. Gaspare Buscemi will comment on his wines during the evening. As a gift to the participants, his “Practical Guide to the Pleasure of Wine”
