n the month of September, a rich calendar of events will see the food and wine products of this corner suspended between Piedmont and the Aosta Valley among the protagonists.
The Consorzio di tutela Vini Caluso Docg, Carema e Canavese Doc will be an autumn full of initiatives , where the absolute protagonists will be the wines produced in the Canavese area, a fascinating corner of Piedmont rich in history and traditions. A series of institutional and associative events promoted by the Consortium and dedicated to both operators in the sector and wine enthusiasts will highlight the main characteristics of the wines born from these lands, with the aim of making participants discover the spirit of these places.
From September 11th to 16th there will be the historic Festa dell’Uva di Caluso , now in its 91st edition: among the many initiatives proposed, Wednesday 11th at 6:00 pm, the Walk through the vineyards of Erbaluce, while on Sunday 15th September the tasting stand DiVino Canavese ci Prendi gusto… , in Spurgazzi park, will highlight the wines of the area combined with local gastronomic specialties. On the same day, at 12:00 in Piazza Ubertini, the awards ceremony of the Grappolo d’Oro Competition will elect the best producers of Erbaluce di Caluso Docg still, sparkling and passito chosen from the labels presented. The wines are evaluated strictly blind by the tasting commission coordinated by Professor Vittorino Novello, of the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences of the University of Turin, and composed of the professor of the University of Turin Luca Rolle, the president of AIS Piemonte Mauro Carosso, the ONAV taster Umberto Genova and the oenologist Maurizio Forgia. Finally, the nomination of the Ninfa Albaluce 2024 cannot be missed, from which the vine takes its name that has found its chosen home in Caluso. The Festa dell’Uva di Caluso is an event organized by the Municipality of Caluso, the local Pro Loco, and the Regional Wine Shop of the Province of Turin.
The city of Ivrea will instead host this year’s third edition of Eroica – Festival of Heroic Viticulture and Alpine Cheeses , scheduled for Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September and organized by the Fondazione Contrada Torino Onlus. The tastings and tasting stands scheduled in various parts of the UNESCO heritage city, such as the 19th-century Piazza Ottinetti and the Sala Capitolare Santa Marta, aim to help people discover both the food and wine products of Canavese and the variety of landscapes of a unique territory.
On Monday 23 September at 10.30 am, Viaggio Reale will be held at the AIS Piemonte headquarters: Tastings and Masterclasses with the Strada dei Vini di Torino , an initiative promoted by the Associazione Strada Reale dei Vini di Torinesi, the Consorzio dei Vini del Piemonte and AIS Piemonte di Torino with the patronage of the Enoteca Regionale dei Vini della Provincia di Torino and in collaboration with the Salone del Vino di Torino. The event represents an exclusive opportunity to discover and appreciate the excellent wines of the Strada Reale dei Vini di Torinesi and the evocative territories that pass through it.
To conclude a September full of events for Caluso Docg, Carema and Canavese Doc wines and their producers will be Andar per Cantine Antiche , an event that will be held in Carema on Saturday 28 September . The evening is part of the broader program of the 72nd edition of the Carema Grape and Wine Festival , organized by the Andar per Cantine Antiche association with the collaboration of the town’s associations and the Carema Doc producers. The event includes a food and wine tour in the medieval village of Carema and a visit to the cellars set in a fairy-tale landscape, crossed by dry stone walls, an art recognized as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2018.
