Fourteenth edition of Bererosa to celebrate Italian rosés, a sector in full qualitative growth 1

Over 130 labels to taste for a tour to discover one of the most fascinating productions of Italian winemaking.

Bererosa returns to the evocative open spaces of Villa Appia Antica, the location that for five years has celebrated the great still and sparkling rosé wines of the Belpaese, a production that makes quality and identity its strong points. The appointment is Tuesday 1 July from 5 to 11 pm to discover, among centuries-old trees and vestiges of ancient Rome, a selection of over 130 labels representing the best rosé productions from the north to the south of the Peninsula, to discover the most iconic rosé wines of each region.

“In 2024, rosé wines with geographical indication produced one million and 450 thousand hectoliters – says Francesco D’Agostino, director of Cucina & Vini – losing about eighty thousand hectoliters compared to 2021 (5.3%), of which almost sixty thousand attributable to the Prosecco DOC, whose variations have different origins, linked to global market movements. In fact, it remains largely the leading region with about 460,000 hectoliters produced, followed by Emilia Lambrusco Igt close to 135,000 hectoliters. As for the complex of rosé wines, in 2024 we produced rosé wines for about two million and one hundred and fifty thousand hectoliters, recording a reduction of 7.6% compared to 2021. In essence, production of certified origin is holding up, while the process of reducing simpler productions that do not declare their origin continues”.

Like every year, Bererosa will take place with the Walk Around Tasting formula, which will allow the public to taste labels of absolute value, walking freely in the enchanting Villa Appia Antica, combining them with a large selection of food proposals. From the seafood specialties of Pescaria , the restaurant chain made in Puglia, with their fish sandwiches, all also available in a vegetarian version, and the cones of fried fish and vegetables, to the inevitable Roman pizza stuffed with mortadella from the Sfornaio food truck. There will also be the Cosmic Crisp , the apples of the future born from the cross between the Enterprise and Honeycrisp varieties, to be discovered also with a ride on the Cosmic Crisp hot air balloon. There will also be a space dedicated to the extra virgin olive oils selected by Olives Road and, furthermore, the entire tasting route will be supported by the use of the highest quality glasses by VDGlass .
