The Great Terroirs of Barbaresco, Alba Hotel Calissano Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November

Tasting bench and guided tastings A great event dedicated to the MGA of Barbaresco and the comparison with other wines of the great Piedmont grape variety. The event will include initiatives in homage to Luigi Veronelli, 20 years after his death.

The cellars and wines are the protagonists of the tasting table!

It takes place in Alba and is the third edition: the event has officially entered the general program of the Alba International White Truffle Fair and has moved its date to the weekend starting from Friday 1 November.

This is “I Grandi Terroir del Barbaresco”, an event created by Go Wine and scheduled for November 1st and 2nd in Alba, in the elegant Calissano and Fenoglio Rooms of the Hotel Calissano, during the 94th edition of the Alba International White Truffle Fair.

The event aims to tell the story of a great wine like Barbaresco through its territory, the different geographical mentions (cru) and the meeting with its producers, highlighting the differences and riches of the various sites of the denomination.

A tasting to delve “in the field” into the richness of the production area, the peculiarities of the distinct geographical mentions, to make tasters and the public reflect on the importance of the “land-territory” factor in the greatness of a wine like Barbaresco.

The program includes tasting tables in the direct presence of the wineries and exclusive Masterclasses.

In the guide edited by Luciano Ferraro with James Suckling for Corriere della Sera, among “The best 100 wines and winemakers in Italy” and for “FOOD&WINE” among the 50 top wineries in Italy.

Gradis’ciutta, a symbolic winery of the Collio owned by Robert Princic, is proud to announce its inclusion in the prestigious guide “The best 100 wines and winemakers of Italy” of the Corriere della Sera , now in its eleventh edition and presented in Milan on Friday 25 November. ” Being included in this guide is a great honor for us ,” explains Robert Princic . ” It represents a confirmation of our commitment to respectful viticulture, where nature and man find a balance in the name of maximum quality. We cultivate our vineyards with extreme care and respect, certain that every glass must tell the most authentic and sincere face of the Collio .” The 2025 edition is signed by Luciano Ferraro , deputy director of the newspaper, and by James Suckling , internationally renowned wine critic and founder of the site that bears his name. This recognition celebrates the commitment of Robert Princic and his family in producing wines that embody respect for the Collio territory, where organic viticulture is more than a choice: it is a commitment that transforms each vineyard into an ecosystem of life and harmony. This dedication to the environment and quality has also led Gradis’ciutta to be included among the 50 best Italian wineries selected by the FOOD&WINE magazine. This prestigious selection celebrates Italian companies that stand out for innovation, sustainability and the ability to enhance the wine tourism experience and exports. An award that consolidates Gradis’ciutta as an ambassador of the Collio and Italian excellence. Located in a privileged area for its microclimate and “ ponca ” soils, Gradis’ciutta has its roots in the village from which it takes its name, the historical legacy of a family of winemakers who in 1997 saw the entry into the company of their son Robert. He has been able to combine tradition and modernity with bold choices : in 2005 he built a new cellar and, with careful conversion work, made the company completely organic in 2018. For Robert Princic, the vineyard is life, and his attention has led to meticulous and scientific viticulture, capable of addressing climate change and preserving biodiversity. In fact, for a few years now, Gradis’ciutta has begun collaborating with Vite Nova for the Diversity Ark certification and for a real paradigm shift in the vineyard. Starting in 2020, Gradis’ciutta has undertaken the certification process that today represents a real revolution in the agricultural sector. Diversity Ark, in fact, approaches agriculture with a new philosophy of thought, proposing a holistic vision that aims to protect the biodiversity present in the field at 360°.

“The Italy of Italian Pinot Noir”, a good start in Rome

The two-day event dedicated to Italian Pinot Noir “L’Italia del Pinot Noir” comes to an end. 39 wineries and hundreds of operators from the food and wine sector were present at the first edition.

The first edition of the event “ L’Italia del Pinot Nero ” has concluded, a prestigious showcase dedicated to one of the most refined and appreciated vines in the world. Hundreds of attendees and many operators in the sector (restaurateurs, wine merchants, agents, distributors) and the press at the event organized by the newspaper “ Vinodabere ” which took place on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 October at the Belstay Hotel in Rome. The event brought together 39 wineries from 14 different regions of Italy and then from South Africa and Argentina : “ We are very satisfied with this first event dedicated to Pinot Nero which has seen so much attention from the press and operators in the sector – the organizers of Vinodabere specify – It is a variety that has also achieved excellence in various territories of the Belpaese. In these two days we have not only deepened our knowledge of the different labels present but there has been a lively exchange with experts, communicators, winemakers and enthusiasts”. Producers from Alto Adige, Lombardy and other regions dedicated to growing Pinot Noir presented their winemaking excellence, offering participants the opportunity to taste a careful selection of wines from the noblest international red grape variety, from the youngest and freshest to the long-maturing reserves, an expression of the terroir and Italian savoir-faire. The masterclass “ Il giro d’Italia attraverso il Pinot Noir” (The tour of Italy through Pinot Noir ) was very well attended, led by Vinodabere journalists Antonio Paolini and Maurizio Valeriani, journalist Luca Matarazzo (director of 20 Italie ) and critic Dario Cappelloni ( DoctorWine ) who opened the two days of tastings. “L’Italia del Pinot Noir” was not only a moment of discovery and promotion but also an opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between producers, distributors and consumers, with the aim of increasing the culture of quality wine and raising public awareness of the excellence of our territory. Novello is not just a wine, but an authentic symbol of celebration of agricultural work: the first fruit of the year that expresses the essence of the harvest just concluded.

Fruit of the commitment to the environment and the passion for producing high-quality wines, Cantina Pizzolato – specialized since 1991 in the production of organic and vegan wines – is proud to present the new vintage of Novello IGT Veneto 2024, obtained from resistant vines and without added sulphites. Novello is not just a wine, but an authentic symbol of celebration of agricultural work: the first fruit of the year that expresses the essence of the harvest just concluded. With this edition, Cantina Pizzolato has reinterpreted Novello in a modern and sustainable way, using resistant PIWI vines such as Cabernet Cortis and Merlot Khorus. PIWI, abbreviation of “Pilzwiderstandsfähig” (fungus resistant), a variety that requires fewer chemical treatments, thus representing a conscious and ecological choice. Novello IGT Veneto PIWI 2024 stands out for its ruby red color with purple reflections and for its intense aromas of violets, blueberries, currants and blackberries. On the palate it is harmonious, with a light tannic note that enhances its fresh and fruity character. This wine lends itself to numerous autumnal pairings: from risotto with pumpkin and mushrooms, to pappardelle with porcini mushrooms, to mature cheeses and cured meats. The classic pairing with chestnuts makes it the essential protagonist of autumn tables. Produced through the carbonic maceration technique, which ferments the whole bunches in an environment saturated with carbon dioxide, the Novello develops distinct aromas of strawberry and berries, with a low tannicity that makes it fresh and pleasant to drink. This unique winemaking method gives the wine its fruity aromatic profile and an immediately recognizable taste. With the Novello IGT Veneto PIWI, Cantina Pizzolato celebrates autumn in all its fullness: a wine that contains the aromas of the grapes just brought to the cellar and the freshness of sustainable winemaking. The innovative approach combines the cultivation of resistant vines with the absence of added sulphites and demonstrates the commitment of the Pizzolato Winery towards organic viticulture, respectful of the environment and always oriented towards quality.
