UMBRIATOP’S AUTUMN EVENTS

The partnership with the Corciano Castello di Vino event just started, “It’s Time for Wine”, the roadshow of the Enoteche in Umbria, the “Mercavino” format at the 30th edition of the Eurochocolate festival:

the Umbria Top program, with events scheduled for the next few months that have been created under the slogan “Umbria Wine Academy” and “Guests in Umbria” is moving at a fast pace.

Umbria Wine Academy , a format created by UmbriaTop that took shape in 2024, is increasingly shaping up as an informative tool to be declined through various activities, both locally and in national and international contexts, for information, dissemination and training on quality Umbrian wine. The autumn season opens with a series of events aimed at various targets who, through these activities, have the opportunity to get to know the excellence of wine production in the green heart of Italy. A Festival that celebrates the rich wine production of the Trasimeno area in a context such as one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy is Corciano Castello di Vino , which this year will be held from 4 to 6 October in the streets and historic venues of Corciano, in the province of Perugia.

The event opened with the conference entitled “Stati generali del Vino in Umbria” – territorio a confronto,” where, in addition to the testimony of the four regional Consortia for the Protection, the organizers and other prestigious interventions, UmbriaTop brought its testimony on the value of “teamwork”. In the context of the Festival, it supports the initiatives called “Anteprima Trasimeno” , aimed at enhancing the quality denominations of Trasimeno, including free tastings of a glass of Trasimeno Gamay Doc, at the Taverna del Duca, reserved for all those who dine. Starting soon is instead “ It’s Time for Wine ”, a calendar of evenings that will take place in eight Enotecas in Umbria, a format of entertainment, storytelling and itinerant tastings curated by UmbriaTop, in collaboration with Movimento Turismo del Vino Umbria. “It’s Time for Wine” is a format already successfully tested last year by MTV Umbria, which involves the organization of a series of tastings of wines from regional companies at some selected wine shops throughout the territory, in the areas of greatest tourist and commercial interest. “ The idea ,” explains Gioia Bacoccoli , coordinator of Umbria Top, “ is to promote knowledge and education of local and international customers on quality regional wines, denominations and typical native vines, with the aim of raising awareness of greater consumption of local wines and making every wine enthusiast an ambassador of Umbrian wine, but above all bringing producers and wine merchants together .” Starting from October 14th and until December 8th, a promotional and information corner on the initiative will be set up in the eight wine shops, with some wines from 34 participating UmbriaTop member companies. The wines and their companies will be available to the wine shop’s customers throughout the week for tastings and samplings by the wine shop owner , along with informational material on the native vines and the peculiarities of Umbrian viticulture. Finally, a tasting event will be held in each wine shop, led by the food and wine critic Antonio Boco , who will explain the wines, territories and peculiarities. Finally, a sort of “temporary” regional wine shop will be present at Eurochocolate 2024, ready to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary in Perugia from 15 to 24 November 2024, offering visitors exhibitions, free tastings, shows and cultural and entertainment activities for families and chocolate enthusiasts. For the entire duration of the event, in fact, the magic of Eurochocolate will extend throughout the historic center of Perugia with itinerant shows, musical performances and artistic performances that will transform every corner of the Acropolis into an open-air stage, animated by original Chocoband, Chocoparade, Chocolieri and much more. And Umbrian wine could not be missed . It will be possible to learn about and taste a selection of the most representative wines of the region, in the ” Mercavino ” space where you can learn about, taste for free and also buy wines from UmbriaTop member wineries. The UmbriaTop initiatives are included in the initiatives to promote certified Umbrian production promoted by the UmbriaTop Wines Cooperative as part of the measure of the CSR Umbria 2023-2027 – intervention SRG10 “Promotion of quality products”

Tre Bicchieri 2025, the best wines of Friuli Venezia Giulia awarded by Gambero Rosso

Friuli Venezia Giulia is a land extraordinarily suited to the production of quality white wines . The excellences are mostly distributed on the hills that form the splendid theatre protected by the Julian Alps that extends along the entire eastern border until it reaches the Adriatic. But most of the vineyards are found in the vast plain, where much of the territory is now dedicated to the Glera for Prosecco .

The wines of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The whites

However, it is Pinot Grigio that dominates in terms of area, and it is curious to note that it is the most produced but also the least consumed wine in the region, where the daily glass remains the beloved Friulano . The real phenomenon of recent years, however, is that of Ribolla Gialla . In little more than a decade, vineyards and production have increased tenfold. Ribolla, rich in acidity, gives excellent still wines, excellent sparkling wines and great wines when it comes from excellent terroirs such as Collio . In the area bordering Slovenia it is still treated with ancestral methods and subjected to long periods of maceration on the skins. The result is wines with a deep color, intriguing to the nose and decidedly engaging to taste.

Regarding Pinot Grigio, there is also a tendency among many producers to return to the traditional “coppery” appearance that the wine takes on even with just a few hours of contact with the skins, and expresses unique and unmistakable varietal characteristics. The production of Pinot Nero is also increasing exponentially, especially at the request of Prosecco producers for the Rosé version.

The wines of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The reds

Speaking of reds, we cannot fail to mention Refosco , the most widespread native variety in the region, along with Schioppettino , which has found its ideal habitat in the Prepotto area. Pignolo and Tazzelenghe are rare and precious gems, but it is always the white wines that enhance the territory and win the prizes.

An afternoon of conviviality, music, wine culture.

The event is by reservation: info@accademiavinelodge.it , 344.1307357.

Omar Pedrini Words and Music – A glass in the Vineyard : on Sunday 6 October , Zio Rock will be a guest at the Vineyard of the Accademia Vine Lodge in Capriva del Friuli . A unique opportunity to meet Omar Pedrini , one of the most famous and influential Italian singer-songwriters, listen to his hits, his cult songs, his stories and his anecdotes about wine (of which he is a passionate connoisseur), all with the accompaniment of wine and cheese tastings .

An afternoon of conviviality, music, wine culture, which will begin at 4:00 pm with an informal chat between Omar Pedrini and Marco Simonit , the host, with Chiara Lorenzutti (from Trieste, voice of Radio Montecarlo) giving the rhythm to the conversation. Omar Pedrini and Marco Simonit are linked by an old friendship and deep respect , and have a great and innate harmony. Their paths crossed years ago thanks to Luigi Veronelli , to whom they were both very close.

The chat will be punctuated by the tasting of three wines from the Ronchi di Cialla company , curated by the AIS of Gorizia, combined with a selection of cheeses from the Gortani company presented by Michele Gortani. The concert will follow, which, given Omar’s personality and unpredictability, will certainly reserve some surprises.
