SPRING IN THE CELLAR WITH THE UMBRIA WINE TOURISM MOVEMENT

Family Tasting, dedicated baskets and walks immersed in nature, here are some activities proposed by Umbrian wineries also designed for the little ones.

Snacks, treasure hunts, picnics in the vineyard: even children can find their space in the cellar and experience its most authentic dimension, linked to contact with nature. Certainly not glasses of wine, but organic juices and genuine food produced on the farm : who said that wine tourism designed for parents should exclude the little ones?

Spring is the perfect season to rediscover the pleasure of being outdoors, and the Umbria Wine Tourism Movement invites nature lovers of all ages to experience activities designed to make wine an engaging discovery even for the youngest. Umbrian wineries are preparing to welcome guests with initiatives tailored for families.

Prosciutto di Norcia PGI, bread and oil, fruit juice and treasure hunt with a final prize: this is the proposal of the winery Scacciadiavoli , historic winery of Montefalco.

The Carini Company in Perugia welcomes young visitors with corners dedicated to play and creativity, non-alcoholic aperitifs with company products and the opportunity to explore the company, in contact with the animals present, sheep, pigs and geese. The large panoramic bench Big Bench #248 becomes the perfect place for a picnic among the olive trees, while during the tour of the cellar you can discover the production phases of wine and other company products.

The Roccafiore Cellar   in Todi it defines itself as a “family-friendly” winery and thus offers the “family Tasting”, with a tour of the winery and vineyards, followed by a guided tasting of wines for adults and fruit juices for the little ones, who can have fun with coloring sheets.

Experiences in the cellar also become an opportunity to spend time immersed in nature: Terre de La Custodia , located in the hills of Montefalco, offers a year-round attentive welcome to families, with areas dedicated to children in the tasting room, placemats to color and a child-friendly “aperitif” with fruit juices and small snacks. For those who love nature, it is possible to organize picnics with menus dedicated to children or participate in demonstration activities of the wine supply chain, led by the winemaker and the brand ambassadors of the cellar.

Arnaldo Caprai also offers the possibility of organizing tours among the vineyards, while in the wine shop a children’s area has been set up with tables and materials for drawing. The “Kid Experience” includes a non-alcoholic cocktail and a winemaker’s sandwich for the little ones, while during the picnic the children will receive a basket made just for them: active from April 22nd to September 30th the Pic-Nic in Vigna is the ideal experience to discover the landscape surrounding the winery. A Wine Educator will accompany you during the visit to the vineyard and the winery and then, at the end of the guided tour, a picnic with lunch in the vineyards.

La Veneranda offers a half-price tasting plate for children, while Cantina Farchioni welcomes families with non-alcoholic aperitifs, small snacks and demonstration activities on the wine supply chain, accompanied by winemakers and brand ambassadors.

This spring, the Umbria Wine Tourism Movement transforms a visit to the winery into an opportunity for discovery for the whole family. A journey into the heart of Umbria where wine becomes an experience, a game and sharing, giving the little ones moments of fun and adults the opportunity to savor the territory in all its nuances.

Mandrarossa bets on Menfi Doc: new denomination for Urra di Mare

Sauvignon Blanc, which debuts with the new vintage at Vinitaly, will be followed by the other references of the brand. Objective: to relaunch and enhance the denomination.

Aware of its role as ambassador of the territory, Mandrarossa – top brand of Cantine Settesoli – bets on Menfi Doc and debuts at Vinitaly with the 2024 vintage of Urra di Mare, claiming the label no longer as Doc Sicilia, but with the Menfitana denomination . In the near future, Cartagho , Bertolino Soprano , Cavadiserpe , Santannella and Bonera wines will also pass from Sicilia Doc to Menfi Doc. Mandrarossa’s goal is in fact to relaunch and enhance the denomination by focusing on the strong territorial and oenological identity , as well as on wine tourism .

“The Menfi area – explains Giuseppe Bursi , President of Cantine Settesoli – is a unique place, where the conditions for viticulture are optimal: the area extends up to 440 meters above sea level, with significant temperature variations and the constant presence of sea breezes. These characteristics give the Menfi Doc wines of Mandrarossa a marked minerality, acidity and freshness, peculiarities that make them immediately recognizable. On these hills there are also five different types of soil: after a careful zoning study we have selected the most suitable terrains for each vine, giving even more value to our products. Our goal is therefore to underline the strong bond between Mandrarossa and its place of origin, still little known and valued”.

Another key lever for the promotion of Menfi Doc is wine tourism, a strategic asset in which Mandrarossa strongly believes: “Here the hills meet the sea, next to the vineyards we find expanses of olive trees: it is a still uncontaminated landscape, an enchanting Mediterranean idyll. When we welcome people to our winery, we also tell them about this wild and fascinating place. Promoting Menfi means focusing on experiential tourism : the beauty of nature must become an added value to attract visitors and give impetus to the denomination. To preserve this extraordinary heritage we must also think about the future, dealing with the climate changes underway: we are adopting shorter pruning, shading nets and evaluating the use of resistant rootstocks, as well as promoting dryland farming techniques among our members”.

The first Menfi Doc wine is Mandrarossa Urra di Mare , 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The beneficial action of sea breezes gives a fresh wine with delicate vegetal notes, a new and territorial expression of Sauvignon. Straw yellow in color with bright golden reflections, its aroma is intense, with aromas of citrus, peach, apricot and hints of mint and basil. On the palate it presents excellent harmony between fruit aromas and minerality, with a fresh and persistent finish.

A shared commitment: collaboration and growth of the territory

This year’s edition will see the active and coordinated participation of the Consorzio Vini del Trentino, with the fundamental support of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino Marketing, and various important regional institutions , all committed to promoting the food and wine excellence of the territory. Institutional collaboration continues to be one of the central aspects of this participation, aimed at strengthening the image of Trentino as the beating heart of wine innovation and environmental sustainability.

A distinctive element of the stand will be the corner dedicated to institutions , where visitors and buyers (mainly from Europe and the USA) will be able to immerse themselves in Trentino’s heritage through food and wine experiences and unique thematic itineraries thanks to the Trentino Wine and Flavours Routes, the Dolomites Cheese Route and the Apple and Flavours Route of the Valli di Non and Valli di Sole.

Tastings and heritage: the heart of the proposal

The Consorzio Vini del Trentino will propose a series of tastings guided by expert sommeliers, focused on Trentino native wines , to offer an immersion

complete in the different varieties of wine that make Trentino a territory rich in biodiversity. As a backdrop, the Trentodoc Institute will offer tastings dedicated to the famous Trentino Classic Method , a symbol of the quality and winemaking art of the region.

There will also be contributions from other prestigious entities, including the Edmund Mach Foundation, which will take care of tastings and hospitality at its stand, and the Istituto Tutela Grappa del Trentino, which will offer unique sensory experiences with the tasting of the renowned Grappa del Trentino. Mixology will have a leading role, with expert bartenders ready to present and offer innovative cocktails based on Grappa del Trentino , in an explosion of flavors that combines tradition with the art of mixing.

A step towards the future: sustainability and innovation

The participation of the Consorzio Vini del Trentino at Vinitaly 2025 is part of a broader project that focuses on sustainability and innovation as a strategic lever for the future of the wine sector. In addition to promotional activities and B2B meetings, the Consortium will continue to support research and development of sustainable practices, aiming for a future that combines tradition and innovation, in the name of quality and protection of the territory.

The Consortium thus confirms itself as a key player in the promotion of Trentino wine at a national and international level, with a proposal that ranges from wine quality to the culture of the territory, from support for innovation to the valorization of tradition.
