May 22nd at 7:00 pm the seminar “Wines of knowledge” will be held as part of Enoforum, a conference dedicated to the wine sector, hosted for the first time in Verona.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Enoforum, the largest wine conference in Europe, the first event dedicated to the relationship between scientific research and consumer communication will be held. There is only one good, knowledge, and only one evil, ignorance. (Socrates)
This is the spirit of “The wines of knowledge” , which will be held as part of Enoforum , the international conference dedicated to viticulture which, for the first time, is coming to Verona .
The theme of the meeting is new and challenging. How can the value of science be transmitted and communicated to the final consumer? Behind a wine, in fact, there are experiments, trials, tests, both in the cellar and in the vineyard, which create a virtuous circle to create sustainable, excellent wines obtained from safe and guaranteed procedures. Wines that, through science and study, can be considered excellent from every point of view.
But how can we disseminate all this with appeal to the final consumer market? The hope is that this value will come out of university classrooms and company research and development laboratories to tell, in a simple and direct way to those who then buy and drink wine, that studies and technologies add, not take away from the final product.
In all fields, knowledge is recognized and appreciated: for some arcane reason, in the dissemination of the world of wine it seems the opposite happens and the use of advanced systems and science is often demonized. On the contrary, these studies and technologies often help to make wines healthier, for example through the reduction of the much discussed sulphites with the use of cold technology or other preventive and sustainable practices.
The debate first, and the tasting of wines from virtuous companies then, will have the objective of making all this understood, with important speakers and technicians, who will be able to find the right words, with wines that are very different from each other, but with the same common denominator: knowledge.
Enoforum is the largest European wine congress, aimed at oenologists, agronomists, researchers, technology suppliers, with the aim of presenting the most recent and effective innovations in the wine sector.
Nature gave us the seeds of knowledge, not knowledge itself.
