At the end of June, various Piedmontese winemakers are guests of the FWS – Winemakers of Alto Adige.
At the event “FWS – Alto Adige Winegrowers & Friends”, South Tyrolean winemakers meet with colleagues from selected wine-growing regions in order to network and maintain relationships. The large tasting open to the public in the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle in Merano is already a tradition and this year it will take place on June 27.
Independent winemakers also need a network. The FWS – South Tyrolean Winegrowers Association maintains its contacts not only within the region, but also beyond the borders. An important milestone in this regard is the initiative “FWS – South Tyrolean Winegrowers & Friends” , in which the South Tyrolean Winegrowers invite colleagues from selected wine-growing regions to their homeland every two years. Two years ago, they welcomed wine estates from the Vinea Wachau (Austria) and the VDP Pfalz (Germany), and this year they are expecting winemakers from Piedmont .
On June 26, the Piedmontese “Friends” will arrive in Alto Adige and will stay, as per tradition, with their South Tyrolean colleagues. On June 27 , a tour to discover the Alto Adige growing areas begins, culminating in the evening with the most important collective meeting: the tasting at Trauttmansdorff Castle . At the various shared tasting tables, not only 30 Alto Adige winemakers present their wines, but also 16 Piedmontese friends who offer mainly Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera and Dolcetto.
