Pink Night of Wine. 15 women were awarded, spokespersons for the culture and cultivation of wine, an expression of identity

AGAIN SUCCESS IN TREBISACCE, ON THE UPPER JONIO COSENTINO, FOR THE FOURTH EDITION OF THE PINK NIGHT OF WINE CREATED BY THE PATRON FRANCO PINGITORE. 15 GREAT WOMEN AWARDED, EXPRESSIONS OF TALENT AND DETERMINED WITNESSES OF EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY”.

It saw on 5 and 6 July, on the seafront of Trebisacce, in front of the Miramare Palace Hotel (headquarters of the event), 15 women awarded including journalists, producers, sommeliers, oenologists and communication and marketing experts, coming from Sicily, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Campania Piedmont, Tuscany, Lombardy, Trentino Alto Adige, Puglia, Umbria, Abruzzo, Lazio, Calabria but also from beyond the Alps such as from France and with international commitments and implications and specifically also in the Italian-Brazilian context.

All to affirm, with their dedications – and the desire to learn from what is around them and, above all, from what is beautiful, attracts and fascinates – the role of crops and wine culture, an immense heritage of identity to which many specialties of the Territories are added, each of which represents a business card to get to know more or less well-known villages and places.

A choice and philosophy carried out with determination by the creator of the initiative, the patron Francesco Pingitore, regional delegate of the European Sommelier School, artistic director of the event, supported by the Department of Agriculture of the Calabria Region, by the patronage of the Municipality and by involvement of individuals and operators in the area to further promote how Women, at multiple levels, give connotations and dignity to wine production, operating with character, creativity and great professionalism.

Hence the commitment to support, increase and connect, every year and more and more, this production system and ideas made up of history, humanity, great experiences and the desire to relaunch unique typical products, supported in the two days by tastings, sensorial and real ‘encounters’ with the scents and flavors of tradition embellished by environments that bind them and make them for centuries as it has been presented in the guided tours.

Occasions that have helped to better understand what such contributions can inspire to raise awareness and development thanks, in particular, to the story and testimony of women who, by putting themselves on the line, through what they are, know how to do and have learned, reiterate, in the infinite value of one’s person – also in this sector as in others – the strength and great resourcefulness of the “Pink” presence everywhere. Imprints not to be lost sight of, which push us to move forward in the awareness that we never stop learning.

Cocco…Wine 2024 – Cocconato d’Asti Friday 30, Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September

Online ticket sales open. One of the most delicious and popular food and wine events in Piedmont has reached its 23rd edition this year.

The Go Wine association promotes and organizes the event in agreement with the Municipality of Cocconato and with the Cocconato Riviera del Monferrato Consortium .

A successful formula that is renewed in every edition and which promotes several factors: the valorisation of the places (the landscape of Cocconato, the historic center to walk), the gastronomic tradition (typical products such as robiola di Cocconato, many taste places in the town and surrounding areas), wine with a parterre of wineries that team up in the local Consortium and that open the doors of the event to other wineries in Piedmont.

Cocconato will thus be transformed into a virtual wine route, in which wine tastings will alternate with typical local products, which will fill the historic center of the town, hosting the Cocconato and Monferrato wineries.

The preview of the event will take place on Friday 30 August with “Il Salotto di Cocco…Wine” , a moment dedicated to the table with the flavors and wines of the Cocconato cellars. Here each Cocconato winery will present a favorite wine in a special wine shop. The wines can be paired with dishes designed for the occasion by Cocconato restaurateurs.

The wines presented at the “Salotto” will be served only in this special moment and will not be present at the tasting tables of the event, creating an exclusive tasting.

Also on Friday at 6.30 pm there will be an in-depth guided tasting of Cocconato’s Barbera d’Asti Superiore, reserved for the press and professional operators.

At dendrosurgery school with Simonit&Sirch Vine Master Pruners

From 22 to 25 July 2024, a residential course at the VINE LODGE ACCADEMIA in Capriva del Friuli (GO) to learn the innovative technique that saves the plants and keeps the quality of the grapes intact.

Dendrosurgery , a real surgical operation on vine plants thanks to which the white decay that colonizes the woody structure of the plants and causes infection is eliminated with specific equipment, keeping the quality of the grapes intact. The results that the SIMONIT&SIRCH Team has achieved in 14 years of work and experiments are surprising and of great importance both for the quality of the wines and for the economic savings on the part of the company: 90% of the treated plants have in fact returned to being fully productive . Dendrosurgery is, at the moment, the only valid technique to stop esca disease and avoid extirpation .

For those wishing to learn the basics of this technique, a residential course led by SIMONIT&SIRCH technicians will be organized from 22 to 25 July 2024 on the Mario Schiopetto Campus in Capriva del Friuli . Aimed at everyone, the course is a unique opportunity to learn this technique capable of prolonging the productive life of the vineyards. The maximum number of participants is 10 people .

The course will be divided into 3 days of training for a total of 3 practical lessons and 1 theoretical one . The venue of the course will be the ACCADEMIA VINE LODGE in Capriva del Friuli , where the students will stay and the theoretical part will be held, while the practical lessons will take place in the neighboring vineyards of the Mario Schiopetto Campus. The participation fee is €1,480 per person and includes, in addition to the course, 3 nights’ accommodation with breakfast, welcome aperitif, 1 light lunch, 2 dinners, 2 tastings, and final toast at the ACCADEMIA VINE LODGE, 3 snacks and 2 light lunch in the vineyard, rental of clothing and equipment, insurance and a visit to the Mario Schiopetto Campus (where the SIMONIT&SIRCH Method took embryonic shape more than 30 years ago), to the company’s cellars. At the end, participants will receive a certificate of participation in the course and the PRUNINGUY/PRUNINGIRL T-shirt.

Dendrosurgery by SIMONIT&SIRCH
SIMONIT&SIRCH technicians subjected more than 15,000 plants of 12 varieties (Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Malvasia Istriana, Sangiovese, Gruener Veltiner, Carmenere, Malbec) to dendrosurgery, in vineyards of 12 Italian and foreign regions: Collio, Franciacorta, Montalcino, Champagne, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Mendoza, Kamptal, Steiermark, Pfalz, Istria and Maipo in Chile. Analyzing the data collected – and also validated by the University and the INRA Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique of Bordeaux – it is clear that dendrosurgery slows down the progression of mortality symptoms of infected plants and that the quality of the grapes is comparable with that of healthy plants. This is not the same for unoperated infected plants. In 14 years of work and experiments, 90% of the treated plants have returned to full production.
